On the donation of books in Russian

On September 25, 2022 Hjördís Gunnarsdóttir, widow of the Icelandic Ambassador to Moscow in 1987-1990 Tómas Á. Tómasson, handed over books in Russian from the personal library of her late husband to the rector of the St. Nicholas parish of the Russian Orthodox Church in Reykjavík Archpriest Timofey Zolotusky. Several dozen books, including rare editions, were added to the collection of the parish. Archpriest Timofey presented Hjördís Gunnarsdóttir an icon of the Mother of God and assured that the donated books would contribute to the popularization of the Russian language and culture in Iceland. Russian Ambassador to Reykjavík Mikhail Noskov, as well as former Icelandic Ambassador to Moscow Ólafur Egilsson, who replaced Tómas Á. Tómasson in his position in Moscow, retired Icelandic diplomat Helgi Ágústsson, journalist of Radio Saga Haukur Hauksson and Russian compatriots attended the event.
